Al Anderson’s tired angel is an everted human body, a broken lightbulb monstrance in rapture somewhere metropolitan and banal, somewhere in London, somewhere in the midlands, somewhere haunting the barely verdant roadsides of the M1 or the M6, somewhere softly singing in the blood or an almost empty seven-story parking lot, deathshead drab and struck to sound by the burden of a soul setting in colour, the tragic and sardonic beauty of what the fuck is subjecthood in the insignificance of the British 21st century, allured and petrified by the neon exit sign.
